And since he can basically one hit KO you, not being able t see him proper had me throw in the towel early. Also I found a big issue with the first optional boss on the Vita - at least on the Oled screen that area is really dark and its really hard to see the boss. It could be annoying falling to the floor yet again because you couldn't tell where was safe. Only big issues I had (maybe more so on the Vita version) were the penultimate level where you are going down the entire time - though platforms are not really easy to see (you basically take lots of leaps of faith). Made the Castle of Storms and areas after it less tricky to explore.īoss wise it was positive for the most part, though some were bizarrely easy depending on the gear you have (near the end of the game I was basically beating bosses on my first try with little effort, this changed for the last 2-3 though). I used a big broadsword for most of the game since it was brilliant, though slow. Gameplay wise I liked the mix of platforming and Souls style action. Loved it on the whole, Vita wise the performance outside a couple of small areas was good, and it worked really well as a pick up and play game. Just finished the Vita version of this last week. Lastly, the final boss could have been a bit harder and fear imposing.Īll in all an amazing game,I love the revival of metroidvania(soulsvania ?) games we are seeing these last years and I hope this trend continues There are 3-4 great tracks repeated constantly throughout the game or boss fights, but they get familiar really soon. Also the game could have way more music variety. What I think this game could have improved upon would be making the platforming controls a bit tighter. I can't recommend this game enough to Soulsborne fans. Also there's a really big interconnectivity between the areas of this game, which was wonderful to explore.

Discovering a shrine or sanctuary reminded me the DS1 days when finding a bonfire was sooo satisfying. Since there's no map, making a mental map of the game was one of the hardest things I've ever done in gaming.I found it intriguing to try and keep track of directions, places that I hadn't visited or could not access yet. I might revisit it a year from now with a magic build I went with a two handed weapon strength build, but I'm curious on how a cleric or mage would work in this game.

I tried my best to explore everything, but I think I have missed some covenants and items for sure(maybe optional bosses too ? who knows). The sprawling map and the level design full of secrets which was amazing to explore.

I loved the dark and gory artwork, the moody atmosphere, the challenging difficulty(seriously countless deaths). I finally got to finish it today after starting it a few days ago.
